Service Areas

Group walks operate within Melbourne’s north east suburbs including Northcote, Thornbury, Fairfield, Alphington, Ivanhoe, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Carlton, Carlton North, Kew and Clifton Hill. Private training services are available across Melbourne by enquiry.

How It Works

Start by submitting our enquiry form so we can learn more about your dog. For group walks, we conduct an initial solo walk to assess recall, social behaviour and suitability for off lead adventures. This helps us ensure every dog is placed in the safest and most appropriate environment.

Our Approach

Delightful Dog Minds is a positive reinforcement, reward based DOG training business. We focus on building confidence, trust and clear communication between dogs and their owners using modern, ethical training methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our walking locations are away from main roads and in designated off-lead dog areas. Our vehicles are parked in close proximity to where we walk, and we have obtained council permits for these locations.

  • Our enquiry form gathers important information about your dog so we can assess their suitability for group walks, training classes or private sessions. This helps us ensure your dog is placed in the most suitable environment for their needs.

  • Before joining our group walks, each dog completes an initial solo walk with us. During this time we assess recall, social skills and behaviour to ensure they are suitable for off-lead adventures with other dogs.

  • While we do our best to assess suitability, behaviour can change depending on many factors. If we observe anti-social behaviour during the walk we may recommend alternative walking or training options.

  • Dogs are encouraged to explore and enjoy themselves on their walks. This may include swimming, digging and playing in muddy areas. We do our best to clean and towel dry your dog before returning them home, but they may come back a little dirtier than when they left.

  • Dogs are transported to and from walks in our comfortable mini van. The van includes secure crates for dogs that prefer their own space or experience car anxiety. The rest of the van is fitted with blankets, toys and treats to make the ride enjoyable.

  • Yes, we support the use of tracking devices such as AirTags. Please let our team know if your dog will be wearing one so we can connect it to our phone during the walk.

  • We do not accept casual or ad hoc bookings. Dogs must attend at least one walk per week on an ongoing basis. This helps maintain group stability and allows dogs to form stronger bonds with their walking companions.

  • Dogs must wear a harness so they can be safely secured in our transport vehicle and during walks.

Most clients are not home during pick up and drop off, so we ask that you provide access via a lockbox, spare key or secure location on your property.

We provide leads, poo bags, treats, toys and everything needed for the walk.

  • As a positive reinforcement training business, we do not allow the use of:

    • Electric collars
    • Bark collars
    • Prong collars
    • Choke chains
    • Head halters

  • Walks can be purchased through our website in packs of 1, 5 or 10.

If your dog attends multiple walks per week we recommend the 10 pack, as it reduces the need to top up frequently. We will notify you when your pack is running low.

Training sessions can be purchased in packs of 1, 3, 5 or 10.

  • After each walk we send a text with a short summary of the adventure and photos.

You can also follow along with highlights from our walks on Instagram and Facebook @delightfuldogminds.

  • Our team has constant access to both digital and physical copies of pet first aid and CPR procedures and regularly reviews these emergency protocols.
